Man ‘sets own house on fire’ during siege

Two children and a few other people have been taken from the Owl Push house when police begun negotiations with the gentleman about 1am on Friday.

When patrols arrived at the residence minutes before, the gentleman turned intense and barricaded himself in a space, injuring an officer’s hand in a door, police say.

During the standoff, the gentleman allegedly threw an airconditioning device at an officer, which triggered no accidents.

The gentleman then allegedly poured petrol and established fireplace to the entrance of the dwelling.

Hearth crews extinguished the blaze, but not prior to it triggered damage to the entrance of the residence.
