On Oct. two, a group of 17 Minnesota songwriters will release #MeTooMpls, a compilation album that includes tracks encouraged by the #MeToo motion.
#MeTooMpls is a Women/Femmes/Trans/Non-Binary Folk songwriting collective that was established in 2019 to uplift women’s voices, aid sexual assault survivors, and raising revenue for Prepared Parenthood.
The task kicked off pretty much past week with a livestream fundraising live performance hosted by Andrea Swensson of The Latest, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to Prepared Parenthood.
More than a dozen Minneapolis artists are highlighted on the album, sharing tracks “ranging from heartbreaking tracks about surviving sexual assault to inspiring tracks about feminist icons and their influence on their lives.”
Album curator Mischa Sueming started gathering artists in late 2019, and the moment artist Annie Fitzgerald read his reasoning behind generating the album, she didn’t hesitate to add.
